NIMBUS institute follows well approved and international accepted scientific methods. The interdisciplinary team covers by its expert experiences nuclear physics and engineering, legal and regulatory issues and professional communication of relevant contents to different target groups within and outside the scientific community including the general public.

Implemented approaches depend on the specif requirements and include:
  • Methods of natural sciences, nuclear physics and engineering, deterministic and stochastic mathematical model applications.
  • State of the art regulatory tools and procedures, conservative and best estimate plus uncertainty analyses of incidents and accidents.
  • Support and Quality assurance of licensing documents according to different international requirements and review procedures.
  • Professional documentation and evaluation of safety relevant processes in case implementation with mathematical and software based support.
  • Contribution and internal review with different extend to licensing documents, site evaluation, PSAR, FSAR, PSR, CLA... and under different technological and legislative focus for normal operation, post incident/accident analyses, EOP effectiveness evaluation, LTO, power up rating, component replacement, ...
  • Site specific risk and vulnerability analyses with generic and technology dependent and site specific parameter assessment under different state of the art methods (PSA, living and risk informed PSA, risk monitoring and documentation...).
  • Systematic process development and high quality approval according to required industrial, national or international guidelines, standards, rules and regulations (IAEA, USNRC, KTA...).
  • Integrated Technology Assessment.
  • Legal aspect analyses.
  • Technical feasibility and pre-feasibility investigation.
  • Contribution and participation in international expert meetings, conferences and workshops to guarantee high quality and international approved scientific methods, independent from current contracts.
  • Publications and presentation in international journals and within the scientific community also together with or partners.
  • Development and application of Training and education programs, thematic lecture series and post graduate courses, know how transfer to support and improve high level and young expert staff to provide long term strategies for excellent safety performance under sustainable conditions and to motivate responsible technology progression and development.
